The Harper Trucks 6781 is pretty much what you rent from U-Haul type places. It is extremely sturdy and of high quality, generally. However...

The first one I received was defective; its wheels weren't attached. The cotter pins that hold on the wheels were not spread and, as a result, the wheels had fallen off in shipping and the various ancillary pieces had been lost (I found one of the cotter pins so it's pretty obvious what happened). Amazon quickly sent a replacement, but that leads to the second problem, not with the truck but with the packaging.

The packaging is practically non-existent. My first truck had a small amount of sticky cardboard-ish material wrapped around parts of it, but was otherwise uncovered. The replacement came in a cut-and-taped plastic bag that was mostly destroyed in shipping. Net result: the carrier refused to accept the return of my original defective truck because of insufficient packaging, both with the original "cardboard" and with the later bag (Amazon insists on the original packaging for returns).

The good truck I received I like a lot and keeps my review good, but the issues with packaging, the fact that my first one was defective (obviously so - I can't figure out why someone would wrap it for shipping), and the resultant difficulties I've had with the return make me extremely hesitant in recommending Amazon as a supplier for this product. In short, find a local supplier and inspect the one you purchase carefully!

Strong and easy to maneuver with heavy appliances, best of all MADE IN THE USA.....GET IT...you will be glad to have it around without waiting to borrow someones or going to pay a rental fee. (besides having to return them when done)

Whenever I've moved an apartment or house, I always rented an appliance dollly from U-Haul. What the heck, it only adds $10 to the bill and they really DO make life a lot easier.

I've been able to move fridges, washers, dryers, etc. by myself. Just stick the hand truck under one side, run the strap around, cinch it up and wheel away. I even managed to move a very large and VERY heavy entertainment center single-handed. It is all a matter of balance. The trick is the strap as a normal hand truck won't work.

Now, I'd have to move more than ten more times for this to pay for itself. But by having my own, I save driving twice to U-Haul just to get it. That's because I've found that I use my regular hand truck a lot more than I'd figured, just around the house. Yet there are times I've need an appliance dolly instead. I could drive to U-Haul or call my son to come over and then struggle with it. Now, I just head out to the shop, grab this appliance dolly and move whatever it is. Done.

This Harper unit seems to be just as sturdy as the one I've been renting from U-Haul and came in very handy in helping a family clear out the house of a close friend who recently passed.

Even better, my son uses it as needed and will probably be using it long after I'm gone. At 30 years of age, I figure he as at least one or two moves left in his life. ;-)

As an end note, it was rather funny watching the UPS guy pushing this down the hall when he delivered it. I teased him about not using his hand truck to deliver my hand truck. It is wrapped in white plastic when shipped. Pretty obvious what the package contained.

buy some picture frames and choose some nice pictures of the two of you, or one of you and one of her, frame the pictures and give. Awhile ago I framed some pictures of a special trip I took with my best friend, one nice picture of him and one of me, and I made two sets, one set for him and one set for me, it is nice to know we both have the same two sets of pictures in the same frames, makes it special. what frames you use depends on your budget, and/or maybe decorate the picture frames yourself to make them more unique.

There’s really no difference between furniture that has veneer, versus solid wood. Afterall, veneer is still wood, oak, mahogany, walnut, etc. You can use any type of treatment recommended for wooden furniture…

Pledge just builds up and builds up so that you keep having to use more to get the shine that you want.

Start with Murphy’s Oil Soap which works by removing the accumulated gunk and gets the shine back to the varnished veneer finish. (It’s available in any supermarket and is relatively inexpensive.)

I buy Lemon Oil from the Dollar Store and put some on a well-wrung out soft cotton cloth. I apply this to the wooden surface and rub. The smell is glorious and the results are worth the small effort. (i have used Lemon Oil on parquet flooring, too.)

I have a British friend who swears by bees’ wax for her wooden furniture. This is harder to come by and much more expensive than the Lemon Oil. However, it comes in different fragrances (like Lavendar) and smells heavenly. Judith

I bought my 3 yr old a fold out wooden dollhouse and didn't want to spend $100 on furniture. She's 3, so the chances that she would break something are high. I decided to take a chance on this puzzle furniture and see what happened. I assembled it in about 4 hrs and used a hot glue gun to glue it together. Once glued it is very stable, but you will probably have to do some sanding on it to get doors to close on the wardrobe piece and some legs to not wobble etc... I needed more sandpaper than what they provided, but it was pretty good as is for the most part. I then painted each room setting a different color and added some little pillows and blankets that I put together in matching colors and voila!!!! Durable furniture that is inexpensive and perfect for little kids! If she breaks a piece or two, I won't be mad because the whole set cost below $20 to ship. If you feel creative and have a bit of time, I recommend this set.

dollhouse furniture, December 26, 2007

This isn't really a toy and I sort of bought it by accident. I was rushing and didn't really read the description very well. My 4 year old has had a dollhouse for a few years and when we moved I packed up all the furniture in a box and never saw it again. She never really gave it a lot of attention to begin with but I did want to replace the furniture and plastic fisher price dollhouse furniture can get pretty expensive when you want to furnish every room. So I saw this for $12 and thought ok, I can do some assembling if it will save me $100.

First off, it is a puzzle. And I don't believe that it is intended to be played with. But if you buy some paint and glue and have about 5-6 hours to spend on it then it can become a pretty good toy. First I assembled it then I got some tacky glue (shop around for some craft glue that dries in a decent time) and glued all the joints. After that it was extremely durable, I was very surprised. Then I bought some craft paint, mixed my colors, painted it and voila!! 35 pieces of dollhouse furniture for less than $20 including glue and paint.

Now, if you dont glue this it wont even stay together if it's just sitting there. But after its been glued it is just as durable as something you'd buy in a store. In fact the only way to break it is if you actually crush it by stepping on it or something, which would break even a plastic toy. I'm not even a very crafty person and this was easy but it does take a lot of patience. The really cool thing is that you can customize it with any color you want to make it. I also sewed up some little blankets and pillows for the beds.

My daughter has been playing with this almost non stop since Christmas Eve and the only thing that broke is a chair that my husband stepped on. She actually plays with it more now than she did when we first bought it and had all the furniture that was designed for it.

It is very small though. The only dolls that fit it are polly pocket size dolls, which are about 4" maybe. But everything fits in the dollhouse very well. It's not too crowded so when she's playing she isnt constantly knocking things over. I believe we have a fisher price loving family dollhouse and I think the dolls that came with it were about 8" tall. Luckily my daughter has several polly pocket dolls and accessories so it all worked out well.

So if you want to furnish a dollhouse and save money this is the way to go. It does require some time and patience but its well worth it.
